Primary

The Cambridge Primary curriculum is typically from ages 5 – 10 years and gives a framework to develop skills, knowledge and understanding in our young learners. It provides guidance for curriculum development and classroom teaching and learning. Additionally, it enables teachers to access children’s learning as they progress using Cambridge Primary Progression Tests and Cambridge Primary Checkpoint.

Cambridge Primary Science

The Cambridge Primary Science program includes the fields of Biology, Physics and Chemistry.

Provision is made for age appropriate exploration of syllabus concepts in each of these fields. Focus is on exploration, experimentation and discovery as they learn through play.

From Grade 1 to Grade 5, an enquiry-based style of teaching and learning is stimulated, with the scientific enquiry objectives integrated throughout, to encourage learning of these skills alongside the scientific concepts in Biology, Physics and Chemistry. The scientific language level is carefully pitched to be accessible to all class levels. At each level, scientific concepts are illustrated through diagrams, demonstration, practical observations and guided tasks. At all class levels, there is dedicated support for practicing of scientific language and vocabulary. Throughout the science program and at each class level there is comprehensive teaching support that enables teachers to bring all elements of the course together in the classroom.

Each year of the primary science program builds on the previous year’s work and culminates in the writing of the Primary Checkpoint Certificate at the end of the Grade 5 year.
